Republican Senator Connie Mack is retiring.  Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson, Democrat, is running for the Democratic nomination to replace him.  Nelson not only has the distinction of having flown once on the shuttle; he also is a centrist Democrat in the mold of Florida's senior Senator, Democrat Bob Graham.  Graham has a virtually impeccable record when it comes to core ARP issues like political reform and fiscal conscientiousness.  And Nelson follows closely in his senior colleague's philosophical footsteps.  The ARP chapter in Florida has already indicated considerable interest in Nelson's candidacy, and supporting his bid for the Democratic nomination makes most sense for this seat.
